Route Description
Take the old A1 north to Blagdon, Horton Grange, Bewick Hill and Ponteland. Turn right on the A696, turning off on the side roads to Stamfordham, Fenwick and Ryal. Cross the A68 onto the A6079. Turn right onto Brunton Bank and down over the North Tyne into Chollerford. (24 miles.)
Continue north on the B6320 to Bellingham then crossing over the A68 again to Otterburn Mill for lunch. (45 miles.)
Leave Otterburn on the A696 taking the B6341 to Elsdon, Hepple and Thropton. (60 miles.)
Turn left over the bridge on unmarked road at Thropton to Cartington, Callaly and Whittingham, cross over the A697 joining the B6341 to Alnwick. (75 miles.)
From Alnwick go through the arch then on to the A1068 to Warkworth, Amble and Widdrington. Turn left at the Widderington roundabout on unmarked road to Druridge Bay and on to Cresswell. (95 miles.)
