Route Description

Newbiggin Maritime Centre and Kirkharle Courtyard: a great way to start any biking season with this short loop around the Northumberland coast and countryside.

Head North on old A1, join A1 briefly. Exit at Stannington, head towards Stannington Station. Turn left on A192 to Morpeth.

From Morpeth take the A197 towards Ashington.

Turn right on A189 then left on B1334 to Newbiggin. Follow road right to Newbiggin Point and the Marine Heritage Centre. (18 miles.)

Depart Newbiggin on A197 via Woodhorn then to Lynemouth.

Take the unclassified coastal road to Cresswell and Druridge joining the A1068 at Widdrington.

Continue North on the A1068 to Alnwick, proceed through the arch and take the B6341 west towards Edlingham.

Join the A697 southbound to Morpeth. Just before approaching Morpeth town centre turn right on the B6343 to Cambo and Scots Gap.

Turn south on the B6342 passing Wallington Hall, taking care when crossing the A696.

The Kirkharle Centre is a third of a mile on the right. (90 miles.)

Return to Seaton Burn via Belsay, Ponteland and Berwick Hill. (110 miles.)
