Route Description
Depart Seaton Burn services south on A1.
Exit at junction 63 just passed Washington Services onto the A167 (the old A1). (15 miles.)
Continue South on A167 to the Rushyford Roundabout (The Eden Arms). (31 miles.)
Turn right onto A689, turn left on roundabout to Eldon.
Follow signs to Shildon and arrive at Locomation (Shildon Railway Museum) for coffee stop. (40 miles.)
Take road to Royal Oak and join B6275 (old Roman Road) southbound to Piercebridge.
Briefly re-join A1 southbound to Scotch Corner roundabout. (53 miles.)
Take third exit to Richmond then A6236 towards River Swale.
Arrive at The Station, Station Yard, Richmond (lunch stop). (60 miles.)
Return to Richmond town centre then left at traffic lights onto B6274.
Turn left onto A66 westbound. Take right turn across carriageway to Barnard Castle and Bowes.
Follow B6277 to Middleton-in-Teesdale. (73 miles.)
At Langdon Beck turn right on minor road to St. John’s Chapel. (92 miles.)
Turn left at T-junction then turn right at Cowshill signed to Allenheads. (100 miles.)
Follow B-roads into Hexham, then join A69 eastbound to Brocksbushes Farm Shop roundabout (coffee stop and end of ride). (125 miles.)
